"'Unleashed' is about inner passion and rage coming up to the surface," said singer Jesse Leach. "We all have that wild within that often stays dormant until a tragic event triggers and awakens it. This song is about that awakening within. I feel we were able to capture something raw and intense on this song and I'm stoked for everyone to hear it! The new album 'Atonement' is a reflection of perseverance and passion through the trials and suffering of our existence."

Indeed, "Atonement" is the culmination of a trying and turbulent two-year period. KILLSWITCH ENGAGE started kicking around ideas for the album as early as 2017. The band recorded the bulk of the material separately on both coasts. However, in the middle of the process, a polyp developed scar tissue in Leach's throat, forcing him to undergo surgery. The intense three-month recovery ended with speech therapy, vocal therapy, and scream therapy. The band ultimately emerged with an album that is further evidence of their undeniable legacy as one of the most enduring metal bands of the last two decades and beyond.

The elaborate illustration on the "Atonement" album cover was created by none other than talented U.K.-based artist Richey Beckett (METALLICA, MASTODON) with the band's own Mike D'Antonio handling art direction and layout duties.

Leach recently said that he "wouldn't change a thing" about the follow-up to 2016's "Incarnate". "At first, I was a bit crestfallen that a few songs I truly loved didn't make the cut," he wrote on Instagram. "Now after time has passed (and I've not listened to it for a while), I listened with fresh ears today. I gotta say I am quite satisfied! The messages, the tones, the track listing order, the artwork, the overall feel of this album, it just feels fresh!

"I feel there is something for everyone on this one. It captures the wide range of styles and topics that are part of our history as a band as well as pushing things just a touch. It is a pretty amazing feeling as a very picky and perpetually unsatisfied (and fairly insecure) artist to feel accomplished."

Leach appeared on KILLSWITCH's self-titled debut and sophomore album, "Alive Or Just Breathing", before exiting the band. Jones took over on vocals for "The End Of Heartache", "As Daylight Dies" and the 2009 self-titled set before being dismissed from the group seven years ago.

Quasi-exclusivement en chant clair. Je le sens pas forcément très bien cet album...

Je ne suis pas contre l'orientation full-clean-vocals (chez Times Of Grace, parfois ça marche bien et le timbre de Jesse est pas dégueu), mais la construction des morceaux de KSE est bien trop banale pour convenir à ce style ... attendons la suite.

Du coup... maintenant que Jesse Leach est revenu dans Killswitch et qu'il y a des morceaux totalement en chant clair, est-ce que Times of Grace existe toujours ? Parce que ça ne sert plus à rien, c'est le même groupe maintenant, non ?

D'après metal archive, le groupe est toujours en activité (et j'ai souvenir d'avoir lu quelques part qu'il avait déjà écrit un paquet de morceaux pour un deuxième album), mais après il reste toujours possible qu'ils les transposent chez KSE en effet vu que 2/3 du line-up de TOG est chez KSE ...

La limite avec Times Of Grace devient chaque jour plus ténue

J'en suis à ma deuxième écoute et ça fait vraiment très longtemps qu'un album de KSE ne m'a pas accroché comme ça!
Excellente surprise, je n'attendais plus la bande à Dutkiewicz à ce niveau!
Ça cogne bien plus que ces dernières années, les morceaux sont intéressants, pas grand chose en trop, rien de trop putassier non plus, et le morceau avec HoJo est très bon!

Oni, tu sais ce qui t'attend dans les prochains jours!

Et effectivement ça dérouille bien ! Les morceaux avec Jones et avec Chuck Billy sont bien bourrins, avec toujours cette touche mélodique propre au groupe

Pareil, et puis j'ai vu qu'il était sorti ajdh, j'avais le temps. Et je ne regrette pas!
Si ça se confirme, il devrait se hisser dans les bons voire très bons albums de 2019!

Sinon HoJo a aussi son petit projet avec le youtubeur Jared Dines. Pas original du tout (et c'est même voulu d'après la description qu'en faisait Dines quand ils ont commencé à  écrire: l'intention était bien de pondre un pastiche du KSE periode Jones) mais sur moi ça marche. Ce bon Howard a l'air d'avoir retrouvé un peu sa voix alors qu'il m'inquiétait pas mal dans les groupes qu'il a monté après son départ de Killswitch.



A titre de comparaison je trouve ça bien plus intéressant que ce que Dines a sorti avec Matt Heafy de Trivium il y a quelques mois, c'était d'une médiocrité incroyable

Quel riff du néant au début du morceau... Jared Dines devrait arrêter d'écrire de la musique et se contenter de singer.

Putain c'est clair que musicalement c'est de la merde!
