IN FLAMES - I Am Above (single, 14 décembre 2018) + I, The Mask (album, 1er mars 2019)

Moi, parmi les "nouveaux" albums j'aimais bien Sounds of a Playground Fading , le premier sans Jesper Stromblad ... ce qui est sorti après j'ai soit pas écouté, soit oublié

Moi j'aime beaucoup jusqu'à A Sense Of Purpose. Après j'ai complètement lâché. Je ne crois même pas avoir écouté Battles en entier tellement c'était tout naze...

Sur Burn, à partir de 2min30, on dirait que la guitare lâche des prouts, quelle drôle de sensation.

Sinon Anders, il a pas arrêté la picole pendant les concerts...

Même chose.

Sortie aujourd'hui. J'ai écouté ce matin d'une oreille distraite. Ça sent le mouarf, pas beaucoup mieux...
Mais c'est déjà incroyablement plus convaincant que les derniers!

Le single ça passait encore, mais le reste c'est quand même très systématique... Et n'étant pas particulièrement client des chants de Fridén, ça m'a lassé assez vite. Vraiment le genre d'album qui sent un peu trop fort le professionnalisme et une certaine forme de routine. Mais c'est "bien foutu", c'est clair.

Apparemment ils ont réenregistré le morceau Clayman (2000):

Je ne comprends pas du tout l'intérêt de ce réenregistrement, le son de Clayman était déjà très bien, c'était pas Cruelty and the Beast.

Ils ont ajouté une intro bizarre, quelques bruitages electro et Anders a une voix hurlée moins agressive qu'à l'époque.

Mais c'est nul!

Ah !? Donc c'est le même groupe, celui de Clayman et celui du Mask ?
J'aime bien ce groupe. Je les défends avec plaisir quand j'estime qu'ils font de bonnes choses, y compris contre la doxa (coucou Siren Charms). Mais là... non, c'est clairement daubé. Dès l'introduction, c'est annoncé - et effectivement, la suite est fidèle à l'annonce.

Alors en fait le prétexte c'est les 20 ans de l'album qui va ressortir remasterisé avec une nouvelle pochette et donc quatre morceaux (les "tubes" de l'album) réenregistrés plus un instrumental inédit.





Swedish veteran metallers IN FLAMES are celebrating two major milestones in 2020 with their 30th anniversary as a band and 20th anniversary of their seminal, critically acclaimed album "Clayman". In honor of this monumental occasion, Nuclear Blast Records presents a special 20th-anniversary edition of "Clayman", to be released on August 28.

Going back into the studio to re-record some of the original tracks took us right back in time to when we first recorded them. Every detail of the new artwork and visuals was deeply thought out keeping in mind what the Jesterheads would want to see most. This one’s for you. Thank you for 20 years of 'Clayman'."

"Clayman 20th Anniversary Edition" comes entirely remastered by Ted Jensen (PANTERA, DEFTONES, GOJIRA) and features all-new artwork in a 16-page booklet, a brand-new instrumental medley plus four re-recorded versions of fan favorites such as "Only For The Weak" and "Pinball Map". Re-recorded songs were produced by Howard Benson (MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, MOTÖRHEAD) and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge (GREEN DAY, ROB ZOMBIE). The record will be released digitally as well as on CD digipak and a 2xLP colored vinyl packaged in a deluxe trifold that includes an oversized booklet, 11 remastered tracks on a 12-inch record and five bonus tracks on a 10-inch record in a printed sleeve.

Preceding the physical release of "Clayman 20th Anniversary Edition", IN FLAMES will digitally release the "Clayman 2020 EP" on July 24, which features the 2020 versions of "Only For The Weak", "Bullet Ride", "Pinball Map", "Clayman" and a new instrumental track, "Themes And Variations In D-Minor".

In further celebration of the anniversary, IN FLAMES has teamed up with Knotfest to stream the band's Wacken Open Air 2018 headline performance and will be offering an exclusive, limited edition t-shirt during the stream. The show will air today at 11 a.m. PST / 2 p.m. EST / 8 p.m. CET at Knotfest.com for 72 hours.

IN FLAMES' latest album, "I, The Mask", was released in March 2019 via Nuclear Blast (worldwide, excluding North America) and Eleven Seven Music (North America). The 12-track disc reunited IN FLAMES with Benson, who also produced 2016's "Battles". Additionally, the album was mixed by Lord-Alge and mastered by Grammy-winning mastering engeneer Ted Jensen (PANTERA, EAGLES, GUNS N' ROSES).

IN FLAMES recruited American drummer Tanner Wayne, best known for his work with UNDERMINDED, SCARY KIDS SCARING KIDS and CHIODOS, to sit behind the kit for the band for its 2018, 2019 and 2020 live appearances.

Wayne stepped into IN FLAMES following the departure of Joe Rickard, who played on "I, The Mask" and "Battles".

Tanner made his live debut with IN FLAMES in July 2018 in Brno, Czech Republic.

Longtime IN FLAMES drummer Daniel Svensson announced in 2015 that he was leaving the band to focus on his family life.

IN FLAMES' current lineup features American bassist Bryce Paul, who has been playing most of the shows with the group since longtime bassist Peter Iwers's November 2016 exit.

IN FLAMES guitarist Niclas Engelin has been sitting out the band's tour dates to focus on "personal matters." Filling in for him is former MEGADETH and current ACT OF DEFIANCE guitarist Chris Broderick.

quelle daube, ce clayman 2020 !!! c'est tout plat, sans patate, le son original n'avait pas besoin d’être retouché mais bon....

ce groupe, c'est quand même un gros gâchis depuis quelques albums

Mais grave. Quel intérêt d'aller remasteriser cet album et réenregistrer certaines chansons, alors qu'il débordait d'une énergie limite punk dans certains morceaux?

Punk je sais pas mais j'ai réécouté l'album d'origine et c'est toujours aussi bon !
Pourtant c'est loin d'être mon préféré, je l'ai toujours considéré comme l'album de transition qui commence à annoncer la catastrophe du changement de style. Je vais peut être réviser mon jugement !
