On s'en fout tant que la musique est bonne (comme dirait Jean-Jacques). Et avec eux elle est excellente, donc vivement le premier album (ils n'ont sorti qu'un EP pour l'instant).


Emerging young Michigan rockers GRETA VAN FLEET have released their brand new single, "When The Curtain Falls", via iTunes, Apple Music and other music streaming services. You can now listen to the track below.

GRETA VAN FLEET's first full-length album is tentatively due later this year. "We're reshaping it and then get into mastering and hopefully release it soon. It's looking like late summer," lead singer Josh Kiszka recently told MLive.

The band played in Michigan clubs for six years before rocketing to the top of the rock radio charts last year with "Highway Tune". The track is taken from the "Black Smoke Rising" EP.

GRETA VAN FLEET drummer Danny Wagner recently told Musik Universe that his band doesn't mind being regularly compared to LED ZEPPELIN by fans and music critics alike. "We get it a lot, but you know what? In the end, it's such a high honor — it really is," he said. "Being compared to anyone of a generation that's nowhere of any relevance to yours is humbling alone, and the fact that these guys, to us, are prodigies — these guys are the real deal. These are the ones that we've never gotten to live to see, because we're so young. And the fact that we're being compared to them and it's garnering so much attention, it's honestly just a high honor to us at this point. We take it very humbly."

Asked if he thinks the ZEPPELIN comparisons will help GRETA VAN FLEET in the long run, Wagner said: "I hope so. But as every band goes, we've been working on our debut album, and we're really starting to hone in on a sound that has been developing over the last couple of years, and we're really trying to form this GRETA VAN FLEET kind of universe as we're doing so."

Last month, GRETA VAN FLEET guitarist Jake Kiszka told FaceCulture that LED ZEPPELIN was not a major influence on the group despite close similarities between the two bands' styles. He explained: "I think that we've become more conscious of it, because I don't think before we ever really realized, in a lot of senses, the similarities or the commonalities that we share with that group."

He added: "I think it's one of the greatest compliments that could ever be given to a young band like ourselves. They're arguably one of the greatest rock bands of all time, so that is humbling and inspiring and honorable, in that sense… Even if it exactly wasn't an overwhelming influence of ours, it still was influential and we can certainly see it. But overall, it doesn't really affect the writing of our music."

Je commence tout juste à me pencher sur ce groupe, c'est vrai que la ressemblance avec Led Zep est saisissante mais c'est vraiment réussi !
Et ça groove encore plus !

Le pisse-vinaigre de service (c'est moi) n'a pas sauté au plafond à l'écoute du premier EP, mais ne demande qu'à être conquis par l'album. Sachant qu'une imitation, même réussie, de Robert Plant ne suffira pas (Lenny Wolf faisait ça aussi avec Kingdom Come et à part sur le 1er LP, ça cassait pas des briques).

Nan mais il n'y a pas que de la copie de Robert.
Musicalement, les chansons sont très bonnes.

Michigan rockers GRETA VAN FLEET — Jake Kiszka (guitar), Sam Kiszka (bass, keyboards), Josh Kiszka (vocals) and Danny Wagner (drums) — will release their debut album, "Anthem Of The Peaceful Army", on October 19 via Lava/Republic Records. "Anthem Of The Peaceful Army" was produced by Marlon Young, Al Sutton and Herschel Boone (The Rust Brothers) and recorded earlier this year at Blackbird Studios in Nashville and Rustbelt Studios in Royal Oak, Michigan.

The first single from "Anthem Of The Peaceful Army", "When The Curtain Falls", arrived at rock radio on August 15 and is already a Top 10 track with more than 13 million total audio streams. The song's companion music video has surpassed 1.7 million views.

Music fans were first introduced to GRETA VAN FLEET in March 2017 with the release of the band's debut single "Highway Tune" that held the No. 1 position on U.S. rock radio chart for five consecutive weeks and on Canada's active rock radio chart for nine straight weeks. For GRETA VAN FLEET, 2017 went on to be a wild ride of sold-out concerts in North America and Europe, glowing press, accolades from a slew of fellow artists from Elton John to Nikki Sixx to Justin Bieber, millions of YouTube video plays and Spotify streams, two No. 1 EPs, and most importantly, the genesis of an extraordinary connection with their fans.

Asked how the making of the new disc was different to the way GRETA VAN FLEET recorded its first two EPs, "Black Smoke Rising" and "From The Fires", Jake told the DOMKcast: "It has some commonalities, but as far as [how] those two things differ, we had the ability to sit down with all the material that have written and go, 'Okay, now we have the ability to put something together that is a complete thought.' Whereas EPs are just kind of concepts — just short pieces — where now we have something that is one full complete thought.

"Because we'd stopped touring — we had pretty much been rigorously touring for the last maybe year and a half — we had these two weeks where all of this material started to kind of come to us," he continued. "I'd say about 50 percent of the album was material that was spontaneously written within the actual recording process of the album. So we started tracking a bunch of things that we've been writing while recording, and we'd just throw it down at the end of the night and have [basic] tracks to work from.

"In the similar light to 'Black Smoke Rising' and 'From The Fires', there was a collection of material that spanned probably about three years ago and material that was written right on the spot. And as we went along, [we would go], 'Okay, this song kind of fits here, and that leads to this,' and that helped us navigate what we wanted to put on the album."

En fait non, les places sont mises en vente aujourd'hui (ceci dit ça commence dans cinq minutes et y'a déjà une file d'attente de plus de 5000 personnes sur le site de la FNAC.).

Sinon, pour ce qui est de l'album :

Première écoute : le titre d'ouverture est impressionnant. Ensuite, les mecs déroulent tranquillous, c'est pas mal mais ils ont hélas compris ce qui faisait l'attraction du groupe : le chanteur. Qui en fait des caisses dans son imitation de Robert Plant et, surtout, qui ne lâche jamais le crachoir. Oui, gars, on a compris que tu savais chanter comme Robert Plant, miauler comme Robert Plant, hurler comme Robert Plant. Mais tu pourrais pas la boucler deux minutes d'affilée ? Ok, l'objectif n'est pas raisonnable. Une minute, alors ? Quoi, même pas trente secondes ? Bordel. Ouais, bah finalement, ce n'est pas à Led Zep qu'il faut comparer ce groupe mais plutôt à l'un de ses innombrables imitateurs qui bien souvent n'en retenaient que l'aspect hard rock, sans toutefois oublier de coller la ballade réglementaire. Et misaient quasiment tout sur le timbre de voix d'un simili Robert Plant, aussi doué soit-il. Donc là, je dirais qu'on a affaire à d'habiles faiseurs, des sous-Granicus - c'est à dire qu'il manque l'aspect délire psyché qui donnait un peu le change. Seo a bien résumé mon ressenti dans son dernier post.

Eh bien j'en suis déjà à 4 écoutes intégrales de l'album et ça me plaît vraiment bien.
Je pense qu'il va encore tourner régulièrement dans la voiture celui-là.

Mais grave.
Je m'en délecte très régulièrement.
J'ai même envie de dire que plus je l'écoute, plus je l'écoute.
