Soilwork / The Night Flight Orchestra guitarist David Andersson and French
lyricist/poet/film-maker Tabris collaborate on a new progressive doom project. They first came in contact through an interview situation, and soon realized that they had a lot of musical, visual and lyrical ideals in common. They stayed in touch, and came up with the idea for SATI. Their vision was to create a new mystic world, based on emotions and a sense of wonder, as well as outlet for the deep despair that is unevitable for every thinking human being. All instruments and vocals are Andersson (except for one song, with vocals from Tabris), and all the lyrics, videos and accompanying texts are by Tabris. And it’s not for the faint-hearted.

David Andersson says: ”It was really liberating to create something completely spontaneous and experimental, being able to follow your every whim and idea, and create these suggestive soundscapes for Tabris’ wonderful lyrics, who are all in French, of course. It might not be for everyone, but I think that if you’ll understand it, you’ll love it. It’s been wonderful to be able to let all this noise out of my head and straight into these songs.”
SATI will release 10 songs, SATI I-X, each as a weekly installment with a video and an
accompanying text both in French and English, starting on January the 5th.
This is the story of Sati, told by Tabris.

”Sati... Who is she? A mother-of-pearl body immolated on a cruel pyre while life still offers itself to her young gaze? Is she just this condemnation? This little pile of ashes, swept away by the wind? Condemned to follow the soul of a deceased? And then nothing more? Oblivion? All woven white? Or is it the word that burns our lips? Truthfulness. All these truths that we condemn to evanescence. The truth of our beings. Our thirsts, our madnesses, immense or ridiculous, our more or less foolish daydreams, our fallen hopes. All the ingenuity of our stifled, tired, encircled minds... the desire to create, to grow with each idea, each sensation, each desire and each aspiration... As many ashes as we scatter in our sad lives, as many bonfires we light when we give up. Sati, is all this. This desire to create absolute beauty as much as the desire to taste the simple enjoyment of all those little dreams stolen from a moment. Whoever accepts to grasp her hand knows that she is audacity, rebellion, fierce beauty, in every breath, in every word, in every note... Nothing should be abandoned in favour of the day, of the mechanics of daily life, of the cold routine. Let yourself be torn by ideas, carried by dreams and dare to plunge, to pretend to create...

Sati is this goddess that our vows of invention have recreated to offer you to flirt with the twilight zone, this space between two worlds, an elsewhere where the essential is redefined and where thought forgets all barriers. Words, sounds and pictures mingle here in a room that we wanted to liberate from all codes and genres. Sati is our allegory of free inspiration, of creativity by essence, a blue demon governing the senses, a spirit eager for renewal, beauty as much as melancholy. It is our thirst for the infinite. Because when we cross the line, there is no longer any end to be sought. Only movement makes sense.”
