Pardonnez-moi, mais ils sont vraiment trop forts, ces cons là.
Le morceau est excellent (et pas si différent que ça d'un "The Price" par exemple - ils ne font pas encore du rock conventionnel).

http://viaomega.com/articles/review-leprous-malina-insideout-music-release-date-august-25-2017

Leprous are labelled as prog rock or prog metal, but I am having problems with this categorization. They are much more and so much more outstanding than other bands of the genre, as they have once more proven with their new album “Malina”. Already the forerunner “The Congregation” could make the blood freeze in my veins, but “Malina” can top all this, just leaving me speechless.

“Bonneville” starts somewhat cumbersome, all kinds of sound excerpts surround the listener and you don't know what to concentrate on first. But at the same time, Einar Solberg gives us a taste of his very high pitched sensitive voice, singing along tenderly and softly to the mid-tempo catchy tunes. Any longtime fan of Leprous might have expected it: well yeah, after the opening section the music suddenly explodes and electrifying sound structures are all around you, captivating you, not letting you go, running through your veins, and you will be drifting along with the lyrics and the emotions.

“Bonneville” gives a preview of how much emotions are likely to follow within the rest of the album. Yet alone this song makes it obvious that this album will outshine the previous ones, even if this seemed unimaginable when listening to deeply moving classics like “The Cloak”.
“Stuck” is another piece of song art that demands your attention. It's not easy to find your entry to the vocal lines and the lyrics. It's getting better the longer you listen. Einar swerves into high-pitched regions now and then, bringing on a richness of variations in singing glee. Spacy keyboard sounds are relieving the track, before a voluptuous final in voice performance and sound formation will bring your senses to mental highs.
The following track "From the Flame" had been pre-released as an appetizer before the album release. I would say that the reason is because it is the most catchy song on the album. It's actually a mainstream song in my opinion and a categorization such as prog rock is not justified. This song has sing-along radio qualities and it would be easy for me to imagine seeing Leprous successfully perform this song in front of a festival audience of 70,000 visitors that are not from the rock or metal genre at all.
“Captive” starts off with a typical Leprous sound construction, before it gets more rocking regarding the use of guitar sounds. The singing is choppy and distracted. The listener gets thrown around between a typical Leprous feeling and some surprisingly pushing parts – a bit rough, maybe not everyone's no. 1 choice. “Illuminate” comes along as a piece on its own. The attention lies on the lyrics, being paramount. The instrumentation lightly gads around the vocal line and admixes here and there. As on the whole album, the melody lines are brisk and bold. “Leashes” is a more slow and melodious song, immediately eliciting profound emotional outbursts – tender and sad at the same time. It is one of the songs you can cry along with. A full-voiced, emotional, loud, afflicted singing leads the listener into a mind eclipse full of pain and true feelings.
"No Salvation to be found..." – this doesn't only go for the lyrics but also for the effect that this sensitive song will have on your soul. Listen to it once, you will be addicted to it for a long time! “Mirage” is one of the longer tracks of the album. Probably quite controversial to some listeners, as it is difficult to access, but it's also full of varieties, a richness of fancy melody lines and surprising moments. You can call it an energetic and proficient composition. From elusive parts to engaging effects, this song offers a wide range of hearing pleasure (sometime non-pleasure, but in no case, boring). Up next is the title track "Malina". This slow tempo song starts gently and very emotionally. String ensemble sounds give this ballad a majestic touch. A very passionate, sorrowful singing makes this song a highlight, as you suffer along with the poet. For sure, this song demands a lot of vocal skills when being performed live. It will be worth all the effort, as this is true composition and singing artistry. Three more songs are to follow before the album is completed with almost one hour of astonishment and amazement.
One of them is “The Last Milestone”, which is definitely the saddest song on this album. It’s soft and full of love and pain at the same time. Everyone will interpret something different into it, I guess, depending on what last milestones you have had with a loved one. This slow composition lives almost only from the touching vocal lines that might make you cry, and from the mournful classical cello sound (a cellist from Canada has been especially flown in for the recordings).

There is no way that I can imagine that the Leprous fans could be disappointed with “Malina”. It's so entertaining and energetic in some parts, but also deep reaching and heart touching in others. Is it actually worth mentioning that Einar Solberg has one of the smoothest golden voices that you can find in this world? It seems to me that he can sing everything and transport every emotion possible, if he wanted. And it's good to know that Leprous with its diversified songwriting is the perfect band to enhance this outstanding talent. Soon I hope, this pearl of the north will be recognized more widely outside of Scandinavia as a benefit. I cannot understand why this band must play in tiny clubs when touring Germany – they belong on the world's big stages!

en voici une autre, même note (9/10) :
https://theprogmind.com/2017/07/25/leprous-malina/

Some bands truly set the bar so high that future albums have the nearly impossible task of overcoming and progressing upon their predecessors. It’s almost unfair in some ways. Leprous is one of those bands that continues to change and morph into new forms, and each album really has been better than their last, despite the quality of all the albums they’ve made. Their new album “Malina” is set to release August 25, and it again shows the band taking a new shape, but can it also best their previous albums? I think the answer is a resounding “yes”.

Leprous has seen several line-up changes throughout the years, and this time is no different. The band consists of Einar Solberg on keys and lead vocals, Tor Oddmund Suhrke on guitar and backing vocals, Baard Kolstad on drums, newcomer Simen Daniel Lindstad Børven on bass, and newcomer Robin Ognedal on guitar. The band has been hinting that “Malina” would sound different than their past albums, and that is indeed the case.

If you were worried that Leprous was abandoning their metal roots, have no fear. While this album is indeed softer and does have more musical space to it, Leprous has still kept their signature stuttering attack style, though many times it is through well-crafted licks from Tor and Robin, rather than what I would call a metallic riff. Baard’s thundering drum style is as stunning as ever, and Simen’s bass might be one of the best performances on the album due to its variety and ominous tone. So, the music is definitely Leprous through and through, but there seems to be more finger work and more of a rock feel to it. For sure, there is more melody than ever, though, with Einar being free to abandon harsh vox completely to explore a his huge range.

“Malina” also has this cinematic feel to it, mainly because of the addition of violins on some of the tracks. The violins are always classy and so gorgeous, and not over-utilized. It’s not just the violins, though, it’s also the space and progression inherent in the music, too, that creates this spacious atmosphere of story progression and climactic moments. I honestly didn’t know how orchestral tones would fit with Leprous, but the band pulls it off with flying colors.

I also noticed the band is utilizing some quirkier tones on this album that do remind me of their good buddies in Haken. They have almost this video game quality to them, which obviously I love. “Captive” and “Illuminate” are good examples of this sound. So, overall, the album has some different tones and is less texture driven than other albums, like “The Congregation”. While the band maintains their signature sound and their odd time signatures; there is more variety, more accessibility, and the vocals are more melodic and prominent. For me, all those changes are good things, and I love the tightness of their new rock sound.

The album begins with “Bonneville”, a song that requires digestion time. It features such a strange time signature that it might take a few listens to get into groove with the song, but once you do you will find that it all makes sense. There are several highlight songs that follow. “Stuck” is one of my favorites the band has ever done. It has this light-hearted air to it that contrasts itself to the darker lyrics and the ultra-serious violins that appear in the last half. The song transitions from this bouncy guitar lick to a majestic and explosive emotional plea near the end. “From the Flame” is the single off the album, and it’s one of those songs that embeds itself into your psyche every time you hear it. It’s catchy as hell and grooves so unbelievably hard. Most singles get a little tiresome because you tend to hear it more, but this song just blows me away every time.

Press_Logo_01

Favorite tracks are quite common on this album. “Leashes” continues the use of violin from “Stuck”. It has an ominous, almost sacred sound to it that is augmented with the menacing violins. “Mirage” is definitely a different track that will probably be my favorite someday. It still features the Leprous style we know and love, but it almost feels pop-influenced and it definitely feels like something totally different from what they’ve ever done. It’s “out there”, though, contrasting those pop vibes with deep guttural riffs played against light-hearted programming and a softer tone overall. It explodes near the end with lots of quirk and haunting melody.

The album ends with “The Last Milestone”, which is a great example of the cinematic feel of this album. It is again unlike anything Leprous has done, as the song is most properly dubbed “classical” in its genre. I think this track could be divisive for fans. Some fans are probably looking for the metal edge or the epic ending to the album, but this track ends the album with an emotional, Romantic, fragile song that feels like the calm after a storm. The story behind the album is one of melancholy and searching one’s soul, and this final song is an appropriate end to a deeply emotional album. It’s almost like the lyrics on this final track are surveying the damage that the storm left, and pining about new beginnings. It’s a truly gorgeous way to end this album.

What are my immediate thoughts on this album? The die-hard metal fans in the Leprous fan base will probably say the band has gone soft or mainstream, but that’s just typical of snobs that don’t actually want the progression that they preach so much. This new sound is fresh, it has subtlety and a more eclectic nature, it is a natural progression on the path the band has been following, and the results are stunning and truly gorgeous at times, which isn’t an adjective I’ve really used for their work in the past. So, while their past albums are still badass, this new album represents a more mature direction that embodies fine art and truly tight composition skills. “Malina” is the best Leprous album yet and a great place for prog rock fans to jump onboard.
