Re: LAMB OF GOD - VII : Sturm und Drang (Juillet)
Grammy-nominated, chart-topping Richmond, Virginia-based metallers LAMB OF GOD will release their highly anticipated seventh full-length album, "VII: Sturm Und Drang", this July via Nuclear Blast Entertainment, with whom the band signed a record deal for all territories outside of North America. The CD was once again produced and mixed by Josh Wilbur with engineering by Wilbur, Nick Rowe and Kyle McAulay, and was recorded at NRG Recording Studios in North Hollywood, California and Suburban Soul Studios in Torrance, California.
Today, after weeks of hinting at fans about the imminent release, the band is unleashing a brand new track, "Still Echoes", via LambOfGodVII.com. It can also be streamed in the YouTube clip below.
"Still Echoes" will be available via all digital retailers and streaming services beginning Monday, May 18.
LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe states: "The time has come to give the fans their first taste of the new LAMB OF GOD album.
"This is a very, very dark, yet sonically highly varied, record.
"As it's always good to come out of the gate hard with a fast and aggressive one, we chose this track, 'Still Echoes', to kick it off. Enjoy/destroy."
During a May 2010 LAMB OF GOD show in the Czech Republic, 19-year-old concertgoer Daniel Nosek sustained a head injury that allegedly led to the fan's death. Blythe was charged with manslaughter in the case, but was eventually acquitted.
"People shouldn't expect a prison record," Blythe tells RollingStone.com about "VII Sturm und Drang". "But I write about things that affect me very deeply. And going to prison in a foreign country and being charged with manslaughter will affect you — trust me — very deeply."
He adds that "Still Echoes" "is a history of [Prague's] Pankrác Prison," where he was incarcerated for over a month. The first line of "Still Echos" reads: "A thousand heads cut clean across their necks, right down the hall from me." Blythe says: "There was a guillotine right down the hall from me, from when the Nazis had the prison. From 1943 to 1945 they executed almost 2,000 people by the guillotine, because it was cheaper than shooting and quicker than hanging … They call it the Pankrác 'Saw Room' or the 'Axe Room. I sat there at night, and I’d think about all those dudes that got their heads chopped off— men and women — in that place not too far from me."
Several exclusive "VII: Sturm Und Drang" pre-order bundles are available now at this location.
Markus Staiger, Nuclear Blast owner and founder, enthuses: "What an honor to work with LAMB OF GOD. I've always been a big fan of their music and we now get to work with them on their new crushing album!"
Adds LAMB OF GOD drummer Chris Adler: "Finally joining forces with Nuclear Blast Entertainment outside of North America is something LAMB OF GOD is excited to finally see happen. We first met back in 1997 — almost signed then, but have been flirting ever since! It's now time for a new chapter for us to connecting with our friends and fans overseas, which is long overdue!
"See you all very soon — with a nasty new album!"
During a January 2015 interview with SiriusXM's Jose Mangin on Liquid Metal's "666-LIVE" call-in show, Chris Adler stated about the material for LAMB OF GOD's next CD: "It's great. I guess the thing that I was overwhelmed with was the idea of us taking the year off of 2014 and then have us come together basically around now and start putting things together. But, as usual, everybody is a little antsy and wanting to jam, and it wasn't, like, oh, hey, Willie [Adler, guitar] has an idea and Mark [Morton, guitar] has this kinda cool solo thing he wants to add on top of it. Both of these guys came in with about fifty different song ideas. So what's been great is just going through all these ideas, which are all really good, and being able to say, 'Okay, we have this much material. Let's pick the top 10 or top 15 or 20, and just keep working on that. Then they get upset, because number 42 had their favorite part. So, okay, grab that favorite part from 42 and let's make song 6 way better. So it's been that kind of a process as we go along."
He continued: "I've noticed the guys are really writing the kind of stuff that I find myself kind of… I don't know… I don't wanna say 'singing along,' because there's no vocals on them yet, but the melodies of the ideas really stick with me, which is one of the things that, if I were to ever complain about more of the recent stuff that I've been buying music-wise… It's great while I'm listening to it, I'm impressed, it's over my head, it blows me away, but when I'm done with it, I couldn't tell you how it goes."
Adler added: "Our goal is, you know, that the guys that'll write the songs that stick with you are the guys that are gonna stick around. So I'm really impressed with what these guys have been doing on a songwriting level — stepping it up and writing stuff that kinda sticks with you."
LAMB OF GOD's last album, "Resolution", sold around 52,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 3 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Re: LAMB OF GOD - VII : Sturm und Drang (Juillet)
Il y a des guests au chant:
The Rockpit: There's two songs on the album that stand out that's quite different to what you have done before, "Overlord" and "Torches". Can you explain to me a bit about those songs and is there any guest vocalists on the album because the singing is quite different to what Randy has done before.
Mark: There are guest vocalists on the album, Greg [Puciato] from THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN is on "Torches" and Chino Moreno from DEFTONES is on "Embers". As far as how "Overlord" came together and along with the rest of the stuff, when Randy heard "Overlord", he instantly knew he wanted to do something melodic over it, and once we heard his idea for it, we knew that's how it was going to go. And "Torches", yeah, that's an oddball song. That was one I brought in, and I didn't expect the guys to like it because of the way it was arranged, and, to my surprise, they took to it. I don't know what else to say about them other than how they were initiated. They came together just like all the rest of the stuff, with us kinda learning the first couple of riffs and then starting to build off of it.

Re: LAMB OF GOD - VII : Sturm und Drang (Juillet)
Petite explication de la vidéo par Randy Blythe:
From Randy: “For years I've wished that I could have a movie camera directly linked to my brain so that some of the ideas I see in my mind's eye could be translated into film for others to watch. Although that is obviously an impossibility (and probably a good thing- I find many things amusing that might not be so funny to everyone else), the video for "Overlord" is the next best thing for me. I came up with the idea and wrote the treatment for this video myself- to see Jorge (the director) take my concept, add his own touches, and use his technical know-how to translate my "mental script" into a suitably dark visual narrative is just an awesome, awesome experience for me.
I wrote the song about the dangers of self-obsession in our distressingly myopic and increasingly entitled "me-now/now-me" culture; just like the couple in the video, many people can't seem to look past their own relatively small problems to see the bigger picture: the world is in serious trouble. Having a bad day at work, or a fight with your significant other, or getting a crappy haircut or table service does not in any way shape or form constitute an emergency. Sometimes things just don't work out the way we want them to- deal with it. People who only see their own problems eventually wind up alone because no one wants to hear their crap anymore- we all know someone like that, always whining and complaining about some inconsequential setback as if it were the apocalypse. This song is for those people.
Oh yeah- if you're out and about, watching the video on your pocket hate machine (mobile phone), try not to wander into traffic. A little situational awareness goes a long way."

Due to concerns brought to our attention by the venue security team yesterday in Tilburg - and continued general concerns across Europe - we have decided against putting our fans, our crew and ourselves in this position night after night and will be canceling the remainder of our performances in Europe. This is a decision we are making on behalf of the fans, our crew, and our band, as well as the well-being of everyone's family, friends and loved ones at home. Stay safe, and we will see you very soon.

Re: LAMB OF GOD - VII : Sturm und Drang (Juillet)
Chris Adler has broken his silence about his departure from LAMB OF GOD, explaining that he "did not make the decision to leave [his] life's work."
LAMB OF GOD officially parted ways with Adler in July. His replacement is Art Cruz, who has previously played with PRONG and WINDS OF PLAGUE, and filled in for Adler on several LAMB OF GOD tours in 2018 and 2019.
Earlier today, Adler released a statement in which he finally explained some of the reasons for his exit from the band he co-founded 25 years ago.
The drummer wrote: "I feel it is time to address the many questions being asked about my departure from LAMB OF GOD.
"Allow me to start with a relative concept of understanding. We all gave our lives to this, 26 years is not flippant. Each one of us sacrificed and lost much on a personal level to live the dream we had when we were kids.
"I will always love each member of the band for believing in me and agreeing to take on the world. We managed to find some love in the machine but in turn, it took things that cannot be recovered.
"I did not leave the dream. I did not make the decision to leave my life's work. The truth is that, I am I unwilling to paint by numbers.
"I wish my brothers all the best in their continued ventures. I can assure you that you will hear from me again. I was given a gift and hope to continue to share it.
"Many have asked about a motorbike accident I had in Thailand in 2017. It's true that it was not pretty, but I've been well since August of 2018. Thank you for your concerns.
"I support my friends and the dream I allowed them to share in. I loved and am still humbled by every second of the smiles and horns we elicited.
"There is an ambiguous concept in our world of 'selling out.' I cannot define that outside of my personal understanding, but know that being trapped in a 'creative' formula and/or playing the same song 10,000 times did not bolster my love of playing. I'm never been one to 'phone it in.' I'd rather mow the grass.
"I acknowledge and am truly grateful of achieving my childhood dream.
"I have 2 Grammys that sit on my mother's mantle piece. I think she deserves 3 so this party isn't over.
"I was not given a choice in this and my dream is alive.
"Feel free to say hello if you see me mowing the grass. It never gets old.
"I appreciate each and every one of you!
"Thank you!
"Chris
"P.S.: I may or may not be in touch with Kyle Thomas and Myrone about an Oakland Raiders concept album. This is neither confirmed or denied."
