AVANTASIA - Ghostlights (30 Janvier)

EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet's AVANTASIA project will release a new studio album, "Ghostlights", in early 2016 via Nuclear Blast. An EP/single will precede the full-length effort in the fall.

AVANTASIA's all-star lineup will embark on the "Ghostlights" world tour next year. The trek will kick off in Berlin on March 4, 2016.

Comments Tobias Sammet: "In the past months, I've spent a lot of time in the studio, an odd recluse in the basement, secretly working obsessively on something that reads and feels and sounds like a new — very strong — chapter in the story of AVANTASIA.

"I must say AVANTASIA is a fantastic outlet for creativity, and it's truly inspiring to create a piece of music for so many great vocalists and instrumentalists.

"The new material is very bombastic and dynamic, and even though it's extremely diverse, every minute of it sounds like AVANTASIA."

Si c'est du niveau du dernier, ou du dernier Edguy, ça va défoncer. Depuis 2013, j'ai l'impression qu'il a retrouvé la foi, le père Sammet, après une période 2008-2011 vraiment moyenne. (Surtout Age of the Joker, en fait.)

Le retour de Sharon (qui sera sous-exploitée dans une ballade mielleuse), de Jorn et l'arrivée de Marco Hietala me comblent de joie. Ce dernier est capable de transcender n'importe quel titre.

Je suis déçu du cast des musiciens, en revanche. Ça manque de panache, tout ça.

Par contre Hietala, à part transcender dans la médiocrité je vois pas à quoi il sert.

J'ai bien aimé le dernier Edguy, donc je jetterai sans doute une oreille sur ce Avantasia (groupe que je n'ai pas écouté depuis Scarecrow je crois...)

C'est juste un remix de ce qu'il fait habituellement. J'ai du mal à comprendre comment les gens ne saturent pas au bout d'un moment.

Le groupe va participer aux sélections allemandes pour l'Eurovision.

J'en suis qu'au troisième morceau, et j'en ai déjà marre... Je tiendrai jamais jusqu'au bout.
J'en attendais rien, donc pas de déception. Juste la confirmation que Sammett est lessivé de chez lessivé. C'est quoi le dernier truc un peu inspiré qu'il a enregistré ?

J'sais pas si les paroles incrustées sont les bonnes, parce que si c'est le cas, le Michi, il bouffe la moitié des mots, c'est assez dérangeant.

Oui mais c'est le principe d'Avantasia depuis le début, c'est censé être un "opéra metal" et pas un vrai groupe où tous les instruments ont la même importance.

De mémoire, c'était Henjo Richter de Gamma Ray (Wikipedia confirme) avec un guest de Jens Ludwig de Edguy sur le premier et de Grotimo sur le second.

Sur tous les autres, c'est Sascha Paeth.

Mais bon, il me semble que c'est surtout Tobi qui compose, non?
