Fountainhead is the alter-ego of guitar player / composer / producer Tom Geldschläger. Currently operating from his studio in berlin, germany, Tom has appeared on countless records as a guitar player, arranger, producer, mixing-engineer and sometimes keyboard player. He recorded and toured with artists like Ray Riendeau, Marco Minnemann, Jimmy Pitts, Xell, The Living among others and has been featured in various magazines around the globe, most recently “guitar plus” and “gitarre & bass”. Fountainhead is endorsed by Steinberg Software, Loxx Products, Soultool Guitars and GoodTone Pickups, from which “Fountainhead signature” guitar models and pick-up sets are available.

Steffen and Linus have penned the majority of the material so far. There´re shorter, catchier tunes based on Steffen´s signature riffing and lots of blast beats, which we expect to work great during the upcoming live shows. But the arrangements, which we all worked on together, also made sure there´s more dynamics, more intricacies like polymetrics, different layers of guitars and some new approaches to soloing.

I on the other hand, made it my mission to contribute something that builds on and extends the sound of the band´s previous album : very complex, dark and (for lack of better words) "prog". The result is the longest and compositionally most ambitious song in the history of the band - a 15 minute epic featuring (another first for the band) a string section and my signature fretless guitar work.

Obviously what you´re hearing in it are my lead and rhythm guitar parts (fretted and fretless) and yes, it´s still me on the album, including the 15 minute track (which there´s none off in the teaser though) which I wrote for them. Well, what can you say other than: actions like these explain better than I ever could why I´m not unhappy at all that we parted ways since recording the album. Welcome to the music-business, folks!

Obscura a écrit:We would like to say some words about all this misunderstanding. Tom Geldschläger was part of this album, and we are very thankful for his contributions. We didn't mention him on the teaser, because we wanted to present our new guitarist (new song material, new artwork, new lineup), but of course he is mentioned & credited on the album as made public prior to announcing the new album.

The reasons for the split during the recordings of “Akroasis” in early July are hard to explain for someone who is not inside the band. There are different perspectives that you need to consider if you want to understand the situation. But we want to respect Tom's privacy so you won't read anything personal by us nor will we start any public discussion. We love making music, not arguing and we wish him all the best in the future.
