KK'S PRIEST has set "Sermons Of The Sinner" as the title of its debut album, due later in the year via via Explorer1 Music Group. Pre-orders for the LP will begin on Wednesday, May 12.

KK'S PRIEST consists of former JUDAS PRIEST members K.K. Downing (guitar), Tim "Ripper" Owens (vocals) and Les Binks (drums), along with guitarist A.J. Mills (HOSTILE) and bassist Tony Newton (VOODOO SIX).

KK'S PRIEST, which pays homage to Downing's past, will play select shows to mark the 50th anniversary of PRIEST and Downing's career as a founding member. KK'S PRIEST's setlist will consist of PRIEST classics and new songs.


Owens joined PRIEST in 1996 and recorded two studio albums with the band — 1997's "Jugulator" and 2001's "Demolition" — before PRIEST reunited with Rob Halford in 2003.

Downing left PRIEST in 2011 amid claims of band conflict, shoddy management and declining quality of performance. He was replaced by Richie Faulkner, nearly three decades his junior.

In 2019, Downing said that he reached out to JUDAS PRIEST about taking part in the band's upcoming 50th-anniversary tour but that their response was that they were not interested in including him in the celebrations.

In 2018, Downing revealed that he sent two resignation letters to his bandmates when he decided to quit JUDAS PRIEST. The first was described as "a graceful exit note, implying a smooth retirement from music," while the second was "angrier, laying out all of his frustrations with specific parties."

Downing later said that he believed the second letter was "a key reason" he wasn't invited to rejoin PRIEST after Glenn Tipton's decision to retire from touring.

Downing, Binks and Owens performed a full-length set of PRIEST classics with MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson in November 2019 in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom. Joining them on second guitar was Mills of HOSTILE, the British metal band whose two albums, "Eve Of Destruction" and "The New World Disorder", were both produced by Downing.

Binks played drums on PRIEST's "Stained Class", "Hell Bent For Leather" (released as "Killing Machine" in the United Kingdom) and "Unleashed In The East" albums.

Original KK'S PRIEST drummer Les Binks (ex-JUDAS PRIEST), unfortunately, sustained a wrist injury, but will make special guest live appearances when the band tours.

Today fans are able to pre-order the LP in various configurations, including an exclusive limited-edition autographed metal vinyl (silver disc) with bonus CD album, via the band's online store. The album can be pre-saved via all global digital streaming partners as well.

The powerful first single from, "Sermons Of The Sinner", titled "Hellfire Thunderbolt", is also available today and features a stunning new performance video. Of the song, Downing explains: "We are delighted to finally be able to release our first track to the world. It gives a real flavour of the sound and showcases the amazing players I've got in this band. We can't wait for the fans to hear the record."

C'est pas une terre de Heavy ici, donc...

Et c'est franchement pas terrible ces 2 titres... Entre Ripper qui passe son temps à brailler et KK qui s'autocaricature à jouer du vibrato en permanence, la production moyenne en plus... C'est très générique.

Oui je m'attendais à nettement mieux... si on compare au dernier album du "vrai Priest" ça fait mal !

Attendez, j'arrive. Voilà, on est au complet.  Pas encore écouté mais je n'en attends pas grand chose. D'abord parce que la magie du Priest, c'est, ou plutôt c'était, Tipton + Downing, L'un sans l'autre ou l'un avec un autre (j'ai déjà dit que j'avais pas trop aimé Firepower ?), ça ne fonctionne pas. Et puis il me semble avoir lu que KK préparait déjà le prochain album en disant qu'il serait meilleur car plus collectif dans l'écriture... On peut toujours rêver mais ça n'incite pas beaucoup à écouter le 1er (mais je l'écouterai quand même).

Donc çe groupe n'est pas un nouveau side project de Chelsea Wolfe ?

L'album est sorti.

Ok, c'est osé ! Cette fin très prog, très étonnant pour un morceau qui partait comme un bon p'tit morceau de heavy pepouze. Intéressant.

Je m'attendais à du sous-Judas, j'ai été servi. J'espérais juste quelques bons morceaux dans une ambiance heavy à la papa, ça aurait été déjà bien, mais franchement, entre un Owens horripilant qui force systématiquement dans les aigus et des compos téléphonées, c'est vraiment du niveau 2ème div de la NWOTHM. Encore un projet fondé sur des noms ronflants (surtout un, finalement) qui se transforme en purge. Le 2ème album devrait être plus "collectif", selon Downing. On verra s'il voit le jour, déjà.

Il y aura bien un deuxième album,The Sinner Rides Again, le 29 septembre, dont voici le 1er extrait : One More Shot At Glory.



J'ai hâte de découvrir les nouveaux titres : Another Victim of Changes, Beyond the New Realms of Death, Breaking the Law Again, Living Before Midnight, Screaming for Revenge, Killer of Pain...

....sans oublier Paradise Patrol, Between The Anvil And The Hammer, Turbo Hater ou encore Ram It Up.

Je copie ici ce que j'ai écrit sur le topic des sorties : Pas terrible, j'ai trouvé, le KK's Priest Du fan service, on s'y attendait, mais avec zéro plus value. Du Priest random. Et Ripper ne sera jamais Halford, il faudrait que quelqu'un lui dise.

Je l'ai écouté une seule fois en entier mais je l'ai quand même trouvé plus intéressant et "ambitieux" (vous noterez les guillemets) que le précédent.
Assez pour me donner envie d'y retourner, c'est déja ça !
