BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY – Now heading for the Big Screen

Yes folks, it IS finally happening.  You’ve been hearing rumours about Bohemian Rhapsody The Film for some time, but now QOL is about to become your most direct source of official information.  This will be the place to come to stay ahead of all the very latest news and updates as the film gets underway – and hopefully we’ll have some regular insider information to share with you too.

So starting right now, here's what we can confirm at this stage.

Award winning director Bryan Singer is the man who will be bringing the Queen and Freddie story alive. If you’ve ever seen Singer’s X-Men films, or the groundbreaking movie The Usual Suspects, you’ll know this is a director with extraordinary imagination and style. A perfect choice to recreate the fabulous Queen years which brought us such unforgettable moments as Live Aid, which we can reveal will be faithfully recreated for a key sequence the film. More on that very soon.

Rami Malek has signed up to take on the challenging rôle of Freddie Mercury.  Who could imagine a more perfect fit than this brilliant actor ? At this stage you probably know him best for TV’s Mr Robot.  Roger and Brian told QOL: “Rami has great presence and he’s utterly dedicated to the project. He’s completely  living and breathing Freddie already, which is wonderful.”

Roger and Brian of course are serving as the film’s executive music producers.

After months of speculation, QOL can also confirm that the film is now ‘as-close-as-that’ to start of shooting.  Pre-production begins next week in the UK to prepare for start of principal photography in around London as soon as mid-September.

You are probably wondering, who will play Roger, Brian and John???  That, friends, is news for another day, and just one good reason for you to make QOL and Queen Facebook your regular stops to check in for the very latest updates, and who, knows, maybe even one or two exclusives.

Come back soon. You don’t know what you might be missing. Hint: Fancy being in the film?

Pour interpréter Brian May, c'est Shaun le Mouton qui aurait été retenu :

Premières photos:

The Bo Rhap Boys !!!! Or you could maybe call them the New Queen ? These great guys are already living and breathing their roles as us in our youthful prime. Left to Right: Joe Mazzello as JD, Gwilym Lee as BM, Ben Hardy as RT, Rami Malek as FM. Honoured !

And here for comparison is Freddie himself - right ? Wrong. This is Rami revving up for the performance of his life. The whole thing is truly breathtaking now the production is taking shape. It feels like a rocket taking off. Shooting begins Friday.

And here's a great moment for me - meeting the fine actor who is playing me, the Young Bri, in the Movie - Gwilym Lee. This was our very first moment together three weeks ago - but I had to sit on this picture until the announcement was made. Today we spent some quality time connecting - talking guitars and philosophy ! And actually throwing some licks around ! Amazing times.

As the clock ticks down to an imminent start of production we can reveal further casting of a major figure in the Bohemian Rhapsody story : Lucy Boynton is to play Freddie Mercury’s lifelong companion Mary Austin, for whom Freddie reputedly wrote ‘ Love of my Life’.

Apparemment ils ont recréé des pochettes du groupe avec les visages des acteurs ! Shocked

En attendant, réédition en coffret super mega de luxe de News of the World pour le 40eme anniversaire de l'album:

Queen – News Of The World – 40th Anniversary Edition
Pre-order now: https://queen.lnk.to/NOTW40

A special box set of Queen's landmark 1977 album News of the World is here, marking the 40th anniversary of the original release.

The new package includes the original album on CD, plus two further CDs of recently unearthed out-takes and rarities from the band's archives, one of which is a newly created ‘alternative’ version of the whole album – Raw Sessions.

For many Queen devotees, this Raw Sessions CD will be the most intriguing component of the new release. Mined deep from long-vaulted studio multi-track tapes, this extraordinary parallel album brings to light never-before-heard alternative versions of each of the album’s 11 tracks. Every lead vocal is different, as are most of the lead guitar parts and a great many other instrumental details. Here we experience We Are The Champions anew, with many unfamiliar vocal and instrumental elements, and for the first time at its full-recorded length rather than the edited 1977 album cut. Here also is the chance to discover peak era Freddie Mercury vocals on a track that nobody outside Queen’s inner circle has heard him sing before at all – Brian May’s All Dead, All Dead. The original album version features May himself on vocals. Roger Taylor’s Sheer Heart Attack can be heard with its original long-lost guitar intro and uncut ending. Taylor’s other song, Fight From The Inside, is more remarkable in that we hear his demo vocal worked on in his home studio in preparation for the next sessions.

Another outstanding feature of this weighty 40th anniversary box is a pure analogue re-cut of the original vinyl LP, direct from the unmastered analogue master mix tapes. There is also a rich selection of NOTW related memorabilia including three posters and a 60-page book of images, mostly previously unseen.

The package is completed with a brand new one-hour DVD documentary, Queen : The American Dream, created from backstage material filmed during Queen’s 1977 USA News of the World tour.
